Jeremy Corbell is the UFO Hunter.

He stands in the hallway at the 2015 International UFO Congress wearing Ray-Ban sunglasses, a custom made t-shirt, and sporting a red and grey unkempt beard. He squirts hand sanitizer into his hands. “If you’re going to drink the Kool-aid, sanitize often,” he jokes. Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell is probably the least likely person you would think spends night and day investigating UFOs. He is mostly sane, rational, and a well-rounded, jovial individual who secretly could kick your ass three ways to Sunday. Corbell is a rare species, he is a Quantum Jiu-jitsu Sensei turned investigative UFO filmmaker. 

He states that his fascination with the UFO phenomenon began at age 13 after hearing Las Vegas reporter George Knapp interview Bob Lazar, the man who put Area 51 on the map, on Coast to Coast AM. But this passion was put on the back burner when his Jiu-Jitsu career took off. 

It wasn’t until after some soul-searching, and a life-threatening bout of Valley Fever, that Corbell switched his focus from the martial arts to filmmaking. And by a chance filming of some strange lights in sky, Jeremy was thrown down the rabbit-hole known as the UFO phenomenon. 

After his 2011 footage of the lights over Santa Monica went viral, bow-tie wearing scientist and television personality Bill Nye tried to blame the lights on sea-monkeys (brine shrimp) super-imposed on a blue-sky. Jeremy was being accused of fabricating the footage. “I got super pissed, I must not have heard him properly. There was a little problem with his theory because I guess a lot of people were super-imposing sea monkeys that day. I guess sea monkeys are the new swamp gas,” he opines.

Corbell was justifiably irritated and determined to find answers. After a good deal of research he was able to discover the culprit was not brine shrimp, but the Red Bull skydiving team practicing jumps with flares. After debunking his own footage, he was inspired and hell-bent on not only witnessing a truly unidentified flying object, but also finding some answers about the truth of the extraterrestrial mystery.

In the short span of six years, Corbell has managed to earn the trust of individuals with top-secret clearance, scientists, and witnesses alike. I’m still not entirely convinced that he hasn’t used his martial arts prowess to intimidate people into revealing their secrets though.  This level of earned trust has resulted in years of footage related to the UFO phenomenon, including video projects on an alleged-alien implant surgery, an in-depth look into the godfather of conspiracy John Lear’s life, and nanotechnology which appears to be not of this earth.

But Jeremy isn’t trying to shove his beliefs down your throat; in fact, he wants his audience to come to their own conclusions, which is a rarity in this field. He explains, “I’m not trying to push an agenda or anything. What I’m trying to do is take a subject matter, which is absolutely complex, and be able to bring it to a place where as an everyday viewer, just someone saying, ‘wow, this is fascinating if nothing else, people are claiming to have these extraordinary experiences, normal people claiming to have extraordinary experiences.’ And the question is, all the energy that’s put into that, where does that come from? Where do those motivations come from? And if you can go on that journey with me just from a human standpoint, just looking at these cases, these individuals, and these life stories, I mean, they’re touching. They’re powerful and with the scientific capabilities to know these days, what something’s made of . . . it’s a really fun journey, and hopefully you do get to go on that journey with me, and you will find yourself arriving at places you never expected to be let off.”
